The sculpture path forest path sign is located in the so-called Friedeholz , a forest area in the Lower Saxon town of Syke in the Diepholz district .

concept

In the Friedeholz forest area between the Syke district museum and Syker Vorwerk, there is the forest-path sign art area . The art trail currently consists of seven wooden sculptures by different artists , which in terms of content and form relate to their location - the forest. The reason for the idea was the work by Louis Niebuhr from 2001, which prompted the initiators Ralf Vogeding to connect the cultural centers of the district museum Syke and Syker Vorwerk along an art trail. The arrangement of the art objects should have the character of a circular route on which one can commute between the institutions approx. 1.5 kilometers away.
A key feature of the forest path signs is change. In the cycle of the seasons, the forest exhibition space changes its appearance incessantly. Due to their exposed locations, the sculptures are exposed to the influence of nature; The artists have therefore planned the process of weathering and decay. If the condition of individual works of art violates the forest's safety regulations, or if the statement of the work of art is no longer given due to its external appearance, these will be removed. In addition, the concept of the forest path signs envisages that further sculptures will continuously expand the art path.
