Waldemar Hellmich

Waldemar Hellmich (born August 24, 1880 in Breslau ; † October 1, 1949 in Basel ) was an engineer and director of the Association of German Engineers .

Waldemar Hellmich was the son of the railway clerk Adolf Hellmich (1853-1941) and his wife Anna Sandig (1852-1925). He studied at the University of Breslau and at the Technical University of Berlin . In 1910 he joined the office of the Association of German Engineers and became deputy director in 1915 and director in 1919.

During the First World War Hellmich was administrative director of the artillery workshop Spandau-Süd and in 1917 created the standard parts committee for mechanical engineering, which was converted into the standards committee of German industry in 1917 with Hellmich as managing director. On January 1, 1924, Hellmich became managing director of VDI-Verlag GmbH, founded on October 6, 1923.

At the end of 1933 Hellmich ended his activity in the VDI and took over the management of the German Hoffmann-La Roche AG in Grenzach-Wyhlen .
