Waldemar Kluge

Waldemar Kluge (born January 30, 1904 in Kupferberg, today Miedzianka, municipality of Janowice Wielkie ; † December 19, 1978 in Straubing ) was a German politician, first of the GB / BHE , later the SPD .

Life and politics

Kluge attended elementary school and high school in Opole and Frankenstein , which he left in 1923 when he graduated from school. At the age of seventeen he took part in the fighting over the Annaberg and was wounded in the process. After two years as a buddy on the Hohenzollern mine , he joined the police force as an officer candidate in 1925, attended several police schools and was ultimately promoted to police lieutenant. In 1943 he took over the post of regimental commander in the air force, a year later he became a colonel in the parachute force, in which position he was wounded four times. After the war he took on jobs as a laborer and driver. From 1948 to 1958 he took over the management of the Office for Refugees at the city of Straubing. From 1950 he was also a member of the Straubing City Council. In 1954, he was also elected to the Bavarian State Parliament, to which he was a member until 1958. In March 1959 he moved back into the Munich state parliament, he moved up for the resigned Karl Klammt . In March 1962 he switched to the SPD, for which he sat in the state parliament until 1966. In addition, Kluge was district chairman of the Federation of Expellees and the Silesian Landsmannschaft .
