Valentina Vladimirovna Cherkassova ( Russian Валентина Владимировна Черкасова ; born June 22, 1958 in Kohtla-Järve , Estonian SSR ) is a former Russian sports shooter .

successes

Valentina Cherkassova took part in two Olympic Games . In 1988 she competed in Seoul with the small bore rifle in the three-position battle and qualified for the final with 586 points. In this she scored 95.4 points and was third with a total of 681.4 points behind Silvia Sperber and Wessela Letschewa . Four years later , she was part of the United Team and took fifth place with the air rifle.

Cherkassova was world champion in team competitions four times . In 1981 in Santo Domingo and in 1991 in Stavanger she was victorious with the air rifle, in 1990 in Moscow and 1994 in Milan she secured the title with the small bore rifle in the prone position. In addition, she won five silver and three bronze medals, including two individual silver medals. In 1986 she took second place in Suhl with the air rifle and in 1990 in Moscow with the small caliber in the prone position.
