Valeri Alexejewitsch Kalatschichin ( Russian Валерий Алексеевич Калачихин * 20th May 1939 in the state farm "Wtoraja Pyatiletka" Krasnodar region ; † 27. November 2014 ) was a Soviet volleyball player .

Life

Kalachichin played in the Soviet national volleyball team from 1963 to 1964 . At the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo , he was Olympic champion. He won a bronze medal at the European Championships in Romania in 1963 . He played for the teams VS Rostov-on-Don , Burewestnik Rostow-on-Don and SKA Rostow-on-Don. As a member of the national team of the Russian Federal Soviet Socialist Republic , he took second place in 1963 at the USSR championship and at the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR in volleyball.

After finishing his career in 1969, he worked as a coach for the SKA (Rostov-on-Don) volleyball team. He also coached the national volleyball teams of Vietnam and Madagascar.
