Walid Eido

Walid Eido (also Walid Eddo ; Arabic وليد عيدو; * April 2, 1942 in Beirut ; † June 13, 2007 by a car bomb ) was a Lebanese politician and a judge from 1967 to 2000.

Life

He studied law at the Lebanese University of Beirut and graduated in 1966.

During the Lebanese Civil War , Eido was a member of the Murabitun militia . In 2000 he finished his legal career and ran for the National Assembly , into which he entered one of the Sunnis' seats in the second constituency of Beirut. In 2005 he ran for the future movement of Saad al-Hariri . He was critical of Hezbollah and was considered anti- Syrian .

In April 2007, Eido called on Prime Minister Fuad Siniora to end the standstill that resulted from the non-replacement of the Minister in November 2006. "It is time to end this resignation nonsense by constitutionally replacing the resigned ministers so that the government can return to work."

Walid Eido was the seventh anti-Syria politician to be assassinated in Lebanon since early 2005 . The attack on June 13, 2007 at around 5:30 p.m. local time also killed the eldest of his three sons, Khalid Eido, his two bodyguards and six other people, including soccer player Hussein Dokmak .
