The pilgrimage church of the Madonna del Sangue (Basilica della Beata Vergine Maria del Sangue di Re) is the destination of a Marian pilgrimage in the area of ​​the municipality of Re in Piedmont . History and description

Only many years after the wonderful event was the first single-nave pilgrimage church consecrated in 1627, which was built at the request of the Bishop of Novara , Carlo Bascapè. The neo-Byzantine basilica into which the pilgrimage church was incorporated was started in 1922 and consecrated on August 5, 1958; it was designed by the Bologna architect Edoardo Collamarini , and it was made almost entirely of stone by local stonecutters and artisans.
