Waltencir Pereira Serna (born November 11, 1946 in Juiz de Fora , † September 17, 1979 in Maringá ), better known as Waltencir , was a Brazilian football player.

Career

Waltencir played in the position of right-back. For his club Botafogo FR he played 453 competitive games between 1967 and 1976 and thus ranked 3rd in the list of players with the most appearances for the club. Only Garrincha and Nílton Santos played more games for Botafogo.

The greatest sporting successes were winning the Campeonato Carioca in 1967 and 1968 and the Copa do Brasil in 1968.

National team

Shortly after starting his professional career, Waltencir was appointed to the squad of the Brazilian senior team to play in the friendly against Argentina . In the game on August 7, 1968, in the Estádio do Maracanã , the defender ran in the star formation and initiated with his goal to 1-0 in the 13th minute, the 4-1 victory over the South American rivals. It was his only game for the Seleção .
