Walter Anton Viktor Halstrick

Walter Anton Viktor Halstrick (born  April 25, 1901 in Cologne , †  April 25, 1991 in Euskirchen ) was an entrepreneur in the paper industry .

Life

Walter Halstrick studied at the University of Bonn and the University of Cologne and in 1929 with the work The Kondiktion the acquisition of an order of the non-entitled under German civil law to Dr. iur. PhD. Halstrick was a member of the Catholic student union KDStV Bavaria Bonn in the CV since 1921 .

In 1932 he took over together with his brother Dr. iur. Adolf Halstrick jun. the management of the 1903 by his father Adolf Halstrick sen. paper mill founded in Efferen (today in Hürth ) and relocated to Stotzheim near Euskirchen in 1918 . After conversion of the paper mill neck trick in a general partnership in 1936, was from 1952, a limited partnership and Walter Halstrick took over sole management. After his uncle Johannes Scheffer-Hoppenhöfer and his brother died, he also took over the sole management of a further seven paper mills.

Under his leadership, the company developed into a global group with over 1,000 employees and exported paper products to over 70 countries under the FASANA brand name developed in 1950. Halstrick thus played a major role in the economic development of Euskirchen's industry.

The Halstrick paper mill was bought by the Finnish group Metsä Tissue in 1998 and FASANA is still the global market leader in the field of paper napkins .

Honors

In October 1956 Halstrick was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class . In December 1961, he received an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg . He was also awarded the papal order Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice and in January 1967 he received honorary membership and a golden badge of honor from the West German Football Association . After he was granted honorary citizenship of the community of Stotzheim on December 16, 1968 , the city of Euskirchen took over honorary citizenship after the incorporation in 1969.
