Walter Bender

Walter Bender (born August 2, 1903 in Oberstein ; † October 1, 1986 in Idar-Oberstein ) was a German politician ( FDP ).

Life

After graduating from elementary school, Bender completed a commercial apprenticeship from 1918 to 1921 and at the same time attended the municipal business school in Oberstein. He then earned his living as a commercial clerk and as an employee at a bank. From 1928 he was a partner and commercial director of a jewelry factory. From 1941 to 1942 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . Later he worked as a businessman.

Before 1933, Bender was a member of the German State Party . During the National Socialist era , he joined the German Labor Front in 1934 and the National Socialist People's Welfare in 1935 . In 1941 he joined the NSDAP .

After the end of the war, Bender was one of the founders of the Liberal Party and the FDP Rhineland-Palatinate . In February 1947, the Birkenfeld Investigation Committee imposed a fine of DM 1,000 on him for his activities before 1945. A year later he was given amnesty as a result of a panel proceedings . From October 1, 1951, when he replaced the retired MP Heinz Reitbauer , until the end of the second legislative period in 1955, he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament .
