Walter Burckhardt

Walter Burckhardt (born March 2, 1905 in Zurich ; † October 29, 1971 there ) was a Swiss dermatologist .

Life

Burckhardt studied medicine at the University of Zurich from 1924 to 1928 and received his doctorate . His lecturers included the dermatologists Bruno Bloch and Guido Miescher . At the end of the 1930s, Burckhardt replaced Max Tièche as head of the City Polyclinic for Dermatology and Venereal Diseases in Zurich and became a private lecturer in 1938 and a professor at the University of Zurich in 1947 . He was particularly interested in sexually transmitted diseases and work-related dermatoses (industrial dermatology). Urs Peter Haemmerli (later chief physician at the Medical Clinic at Triemli Hospital ) received his doctorate under his leadership .
