Walter Caroli
Walter Caroli (born November 22, 1942 in Lahr ) is a German SPD politician and homeland researcher.
Life and work
After graduating from high school in Lahr, Walter Caroli studied in Heidelberg, Freiburg and Konstanz. In 1969 he became a secondary school teacher, in 1974 he became a qualified pedagogue and in 1977 he received his doctorate from the University of Konstanz . In 1983 he became senior secondary school principal and from 1998 to 2006 he was a lecturer at the state seminar for secondary schools in Ludwigsburg . He then became the state's nature conservation officer and was second and then first deputy chairman of NABU from 2007 to 2010Baden-Württemberg. In 2011 he was awarded the State Prize for Local Research, 2nd Prize. In 2012, the main path in the area was named after him in recognition of Walter Caroli's commitment to the Langenhard National Natural Heritage. The active table tennis player was u. a. several times South Baden senior champion. Caroli is married and has two children.
politics
In 1971 Caroli joined the SPD. Since 1975 he has been a member of the Lahr municipal council , where he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1978 to 1988. From 1979 to 1993 he was a member of the district council of the Ortenaukreis . From 1980 to 1988 he was chairman of the SPD Ortenau-Süd. In 1980 he applied for the German Bundestag without success . In 1984 he missed the election to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg by 330 votes. In the subsequent election in 1988, Caroli was elected to the state parliament, to which he was a member until 2006. He represented constituency 50 (Lahr) in the state parliament , was deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1992–1996, 2000–2001 spokesman for European policy for the group and 2001–2006 chairman of the committee for the environment and transport. Caroli has been a volunteer since 2004 and the first deputy to the Lord Mayor of Lahr since 2009. In the local elections in 2009, Caroli was re-elected to the district council, but left in 2012.
