Walter Convents

Walter Convents (born November 8, 1948 in Bonn ) is a former German saber fencer . He became German champion and participated in the 1972 Olympic Games . His fencing club was the OFC Bonn .

Convents took part in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich in saber singles and with the saber team. While he was eliminated from the individual in the third of five rounds, he and the team (Convents, Volker Duschner , Knut Höhne , Dieter Wellmann and Paul Wischeidt ) finished in seventh place among 13 participating teams. Convents also competed at four world championships, but could not win a medal either individually or with the team.

In 1975 , Convents became German champion in saber singles, and in 1976 he took third place again. His club, OFC Bonn, won several German team championships in saber fencing in the 1970s, but the exact team line-ups are not known.

Walter Convents is a trained precision mechanic and was with the Bundeswehr for eight years. In 2011 he took over the management of a swimming pool in Urberach (Offenbach district).
