Paul Wischeidt

Paul Wischeidt (born February 7, 1944 in Dormagen ) is a former German saber fencer , participant in two Olympic Games and two-time German champion . He fought at TSV Bayer Dormagen .

In 1965 Wischeidt became German junior champion in the men's saber , a year later for the first time champion in the active age group. Further championship titles followed in 1970 and 1972 .

Wischeidt took part in two Olympic Games. In 1968 in Mexico he was eliminated from the individual in the third of four rounds, with the team ( Borucki , Köstner , Wischeidt, Allisat , Duschner ) he finished in seventh place. Also at the 1972 Games in Munich he missed the finals of the last six fencers and was eliminated in the semi-finals. The team ( Convents , Duschner, Höhne , Wellmann , Wischeidt) again finished in seventh place.

After his active career, Wischeid worked as a fencing trainer at his home club TSV Bayer Dormagen .
