Walter Ewig (born December 19, 1897 in Dröschede , now the city of Iserlohn ; † August 1, 1984 in Iserlohn) was a local researcher for the area of ​​the former city of Letmathe and a specialist in folklore and legends for the former district of Iserlohn . He was also deputy district commissioner for nature conservation and landscape management .

The son of a Dröscheder teacher attended Letmathe Middle School. He completed training as an administrative officer and was employed in the administrative service from 1914 to 1960. Most recently he worked as head of school administration and registrar . After that he took care of files from seven centuries as the city ​​archivist until 1974 .

In 1922, Walter Ewig co-founded the Association for Local and Local History in Oestrich and the Iserlohn District Home Federation. In 1972 he was involved in founding the Dröschede Heimatverein.

Forever was an honorary member of the Märkischer Kreis home association and holder of the ring of honor of the city of Iserlohn. The Walter-Ewig-Weg in his place of birth is named after him.
