Walter Fischbacher

Walter Fischbacher (born October 23, 1966 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian jazz and fusion musician ( piano , composition ).

Live and act

Fischbacher studied classical piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna from 1985 to 1990 and then from 1990 to 1994 jazz piano and composition at the Vienna Conservatory . In 1994 he moved to New York, where he leads his own trio, Phishbacher , which included Goran Vujić and, as a drummer, first Yutaka Uchida, then Ulf Stricker and which has recorded five albums. In some cases, the band is expanded to include his wife, the singer Elisabeth Lohninger, to form a quartet. He also plays solo programs. Fischbacher also played with musicians such as Randy Brecker , Charles Tolliver , Frank Foster , George Garzone , Billy Harper , Laco Déczi , Corin Curschellas , Ingrid Jensen , Wolfgang Muthspiel , Peter Herbert , Chico Freeman , Tim Lefebvre , Joel Rosenblatt and with the Vienna Art Orchestra . He also works as a producer and runs his own recording studio, in which Ron Carter , Champian Fulton , Cyndi Lauper and Ice-T have recorded.
