Walter G. Grupp

Walter Georg Grupp (* 16th June 1952 in Leutkirch ) is in Belgium active German lawyer .

Career

Grupp spent his childhood and youth in Heidenheim an der Brenz , the ancestral home of the family. He made after graduating from the Hellenstein Gymnasium Heidenheim the military service and then studied law at the University of Heidelberg . He began his professional career as a legal advisor in the clothing industry . In 1987 he set up in Brussels as a freelance lawyer and specialist tax lawyer .

He became a lawyer of trust at the German Embassy in Brussels and also represented the EU Commission at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg . In 1988 he was approved as a Belgian “comptable-fiscaliste agréé IPCF”.

From 1989 to 2012, Grupp was the owner of Intergest Belgium SPRL , which he founded and specializes in managing medium-sized companies . In 1993 he founded the company Euro-TÜV SPRL (later Interrecherche SPRL ), a company for the implementation of EU-funded projects. Since 1993 he has been director and since 2004 general secretary of the European SME Association CEA-PME and since 1995 also head of the office of the Taxpayers Association of Europe (TAE) in Brussels.

Since 2006 he has been an honorary member of the European Union of Journalists. In April 2019 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his commitment as a “representative of medium-sized companies” but also for his social commitment.

Walter Grupp is married and has one daughter.

Publications

Grupp has published numerous, mostly online publications and articles on Belgian and cross-border tax law , inheritance and gift law , and healthcare and care for the elderly .

Social and cultural engagement

Grupp is involved in various social and cultural projects, such as medical aid projects and the like. a. in Rwanda and as an honorary member of the Animal Welfare Association Provieh . He has been a board member of the non-profit Royal Belgian-German Society since 2013.

Grupp is co-author of a brochure on Art Nouveau vases, organized exhibitions on this topic and is also committed to promoting German jazz .
