Walter Hartmann (musician)

Walter Hartmann (born May 13, 1927 in Neukirch / Lausitz ; † 1992 ) was a German jazz and entertainment musician ( tenor and soprano saxophone , piano , arrangement , composition ).

Act

Hartmann studied at the Dresden Conservatory between 1941 and 1944 . After his military service he was one of Joe Dixie's Original Dixies from 1946 , and from 1952 he was one of the resulting Dresden Dance Symphony under Günter Hörig . Occasionally he played with the Elb Meadow Ramblers ; he was also one of the Berlin All Stars . He also had engagements with the Dresdner Staatskapelle , the Philharmonie and the orchestra of the State Operetta. He composed DTS 66 and Alba Regina .

Hartmann wrote a study guide for saxophone (Leipzig 1980), Studies in Swing and Beat (Leipzig 1969, with Günther Karpa ) and rhythmic-stylistic studies for saxophone / clarinet (in two volumes). He also worked as a lecturer at the "Carl Maria von Weber" Academy of Music in Dresden . He's on recordings with Günter Nationals, the Dixieland group of dance Symphony Orchestra and directed by him Elbflorentinern heard.
