Günther Karpa

Günther Karpa (born December 23, 1923 in Dresden ; † May 29, 2006 ) was a German jazz and entertainment musician who also emerged as a film composer and music teacher .

Karpa studied at the Dresden Conservatory. From 1948 he was a trumpeter member of the Dresden Dance Symphony Orchestra ; he also worked as a studio musician and soloist with Walter Kubiczeck and the Ludwig Lustig Dixielanders. From 1965 onwards several Amiga singles were released under his name . He wrote compositions and arrangements for radio and film and from 1962 was initially a lecturer at the Dresden University of Music , later a professor. There he was co-founder of the dance and popular music department; he wrote the writings Rhythmic-Stylistic Studies for Jazz Trumpet and Studies for Swing and Beat.
