Walter Hildebrandt (born April 2, 1892 in Riesenburg / West Prussia, † April 19, 1966 in Cuxhaven ) was a German politician ( GB / BHE ).

Life

After attending the secondary school, Hildebrandt took up a job as a civil servant. In the First World War he was a combatant between 1914 and 1918, most recently as a reserve officer. In 1919 he became German Secretary of the Allied Administration and then moved to the administration of the High Commissioner of the League of Nations. In 1920 he became general secretary for the Gdansk-Polish negotiations and in 1921 head of the foreign trade office. He held this position until he became director of the private insurance supervisory office in 1925. In 1935 he became the price commissioner of the Free City of Gdansk and head of the department for job creation and the promotion agency for industry and trade in the Senate department for economy and labor. From January 1940 he was head of the Department for Economics and Labor and the State Economic Office in Danzig / West Prussia .

After the Second World War, Hildebrandt got involved in organizations for those who were expelled from the homeland . He was the district chairman of the Association of Expelled Germans in Cuxhaven. In the constituency of Cuxhaven - Hadeln - Wesermünde , he ran unsuccessfully as an independent candidate for the German Bundestag in the 1949 federal election. After the licensing requirement was lifted, Hildebrandt became district chairman of the GB / BHE . He was also a member of the executive board and the federal board of the GB / BHE.

Hildebrandt was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 1951 to 1953 . From November 23, 1953 to September 30, 1954, he was deputy chairman of the GB / BHE parliamentary group. From October 1, 1954 to September 27, 1957 and from October 6, 1958 to May 5, 1963, he was chairman of the GB / BHE parliamentary group and from the merger of the DP and GB / BHE - which, however, was supported by the DP Landtag faction in Lower Saxony was not implemented, the GDP Landtag faction. In the meantime he was chairman of the joint parliamentary group of the FDP and GB / BHE from September 28, 1957 to March 6, 1958.

He was chairman of the committee for displaced persons from October 23, 1953 to May 5, 1955. He was also chairman of the committee for economy and transport from June 13, 1951 to May 5, 1963. The state parliament elected Hildebrandt as a member of the third federal assembly who elected Heinrich Lübke as Federal President in 1959 .
