Walter Kämper (born February 9, 1914 in Luterbach ; † July 29, 1998 in Lausanne , reformed , resident in Walterswil ) was a Swiss lawyer and federal judge .

Life

Walter Kämper was born on February 9, 1914 in Luterbach, the son of Rudolf Kämper. Fighters initially trained as a primary school teacher in Solothurn , after which he worked as a teacher in Nunningen from 1934 to 1940 . Immediately afterwards, he took up law studies at the University of Bern until 1943 , from which he completed his doctorate . In 1945 Kämper obtained the Solothurn law and notary license .

His first professional station was as a clerk in Kriegstetten , which he held until 1950. He then served as a public prosecutor from 1951 to 1953 , before serving as a judge at the higher court of the canton of Solothurn until 1966 , including president between 1962 and 1963 . To this end, he was appointed from 1963 as a substitute for the President of the Federal Appraisal Commission and President of the cantonal supervisory authority for debt collection and bankruptcy.

In 1966, Walter Kämper was elected federal judge at the suggestion of the SP . In this position he worked in the 2nd Civil Department until 1968, then in the Administrative Law Chamber and from 1979 until his resignation in 1980 in the 2nd Public Law Department of the Federal Supreme Court.

Walter Kämper married Lilly Marta, the daughter of Sebastian Lacher, in 1947. He died on July 29, 1998, a few months after he had turned 84 in Lausanne.

Walter Kämper was considered a specialist in the areas of forest police law, Lex Furgler and tax law . In appeals, Kampf took a more federalist line and gave the cantonal lower courts a great deal of discretion.
