Walter L. Werner

Walter L. Werner (born January 19, 1933 ; † April 9, 2020 in Aalen ) was a German economic functionary .

Life

Werner studied economics and graduated with a degree in economics . In 1968 he was elected chief executive of the IHK Heidenheim, then in 1973 the new IHK Ostwuerttemberg . He retired from this position in 1998. In addition, he worked for almost 20 years as a lecturer in economics at the Aalen University of Applied Sciences and at the Bank Academy (now the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management). He was also a member of the DIHK committee for monetary and currency issues as well as the information committee and the commission for chamber law policy. For several years he was also the spokesman for the Ostalb section of the CDU Economic Council .

Werner was a member of the National Committee for Professional Education in Baden-Württemberg at the Ministry of Economics Baden-Wuerttemberg , a member of the Society of Economic History and board member of the Steinbeis Foundation and a trustee of the Foundation Wirtschaftsarchiv Baden-Wuerttemberg .

In addition to his commitment at national and state level, Werner made various contributions to the IHK Ostwuerttemberg and the economic development in the East Wuerttemberg region , for example he promoted the construction of the IHK building in Heidenheim and the establishment of the first IHK training center in Aalen. Likewise, under his leadership, the IHK's continuing education program was greatly expanded and the establishment of the Ostwürttemberg training ring was supported. He was also the initiator of the Wirtschaftsjunioren, the business club and the Innovationsforum Ostwuerttemberg.
