Walter Langer (politician, 1877)

Walter Langer (born June 11, 1877 in Bärwalde , † after 1932) was a German trade unionist and politician ( DVP ).

Life

After graduating from primary school, Langer initially worked as a factory worker. He joined the Christian trade unions in 1902 , for which he served as trade union secretary. From 1904 to 1906 he was workers 'secretary in Breslau and from 1906 to 1912 secretary of the General Association of Christian Trade Unions in Berlin and of the Association of Protestant Workers' Associations of the Province of Brandenburg . From 1912 to 1920 he worked in Oberhausen as a secretary for the evangelical workers' associations in the Mülheim and Dinslaken districts . From October 1920 to June 1925 he was secretary of the union of German railway workers and civil servants . He then worked again as a workers secretary for the Protestant workers' associations in Oberhausen.

Langer joined the German People's Party (DVP) after the First World War . From 1919 to 1921 he was a member of the Prussian State Constitutional Assembly . In February 1921 he was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament, to which he belonged until 1932. In parliament he represented constituency 23 (Düsseldorf-West).
