Walter Lichtschlag (born October 5, 1889 in Osnabrück , † 1969 ) was a German doctor and SS leader.

Live and act

Lichtschlag was a younger brother of the Freikorpsführer Otto Lichtschlag . After attending school, he studied medicine at the Universities of Würzburg, Marburg, Freiburg, Kiel and Breslau . During the First World War , Lichtschlag took part in the field artillery regiment 7 as a medic.

After his promotion to SS-Untersturmführer on December 16, 1931, he took over the position of Sturmbann doctor in the Sturmbann I / 16 in the SS medical service, before he was appointed SS-Section Doctor II on November 9, 1932. On July 4, 1934, he was promoted to SS-Standartenführer . On February 15, 1936, Lichtschlag was finally appointed SS-Oberabschnittsarzt Südost, and thus the highest SS doctor in Silesia.

Lichtschlag - who was also the owner of the SS skull ring, the sword of honor and the Julle chandelier - reached the climax of his SS career on April 20, 1937 when he was promoted to SS-Oberführer .

During the Second World War, Lichtschlag took part as a reserve doctor, most recently since December 1, 1942 as a senior medical officer in the reserve. During the war he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class (October 25, 1939), the War Merit Cross 1st Class with Swords (November 20, 1941) and the Medal for the Winter Battle in the East (August 6, 1942).
