Walter Lochmüller

Walter Lochmüller (born May 5, 1905 in Leonberg ; † June 19, 1992 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) was a German pedagogue , painter and enameller as well as a university professor .

Life

Lochmüller attended the Badische Kunstgewerbeschule in Pforzheim from 1922 to 1927. There he was, among other things, Adolf Hildenbrand's master class . Immediately afterwards, Walter Klein was able to win Lochmüller as a lecturer for the Schwäbisch Gmünder Höhere Fachschule , where he had to set up a new enamelling class . In 1946 he was appointed director of the facility and in 1947 professor . In 1970 he retired .

Already active as a painter since 1925, from 1946 Lochmüller reorganized the art association Schwäbisch Gmünd and became its chairman. In 1949 he was one of the founders of the Federation of Craftsmen in Baden-Württemberg and also became its chairman. He initiated the international symposia for jewelers, gold and silversmiths , which he held in 1949, 1950 and 1953 at his place of work in Schwäbisch Gmünd.
