Walter Pollux
The Walter Pollux is an aircraft engine from the Czechoslovak manufacturer Walter Motors as from 1932. It is a further development of the Walter Castor .
construction
The air cooled 9-cylinder four-stroke cycle - radial engine is made of steel liners with the twisted ribs, cylinders with light metal heads and has a dry sump - circulation lubrication . Each cylinder has two valves, which are controlled by a cam disk via push rods and rocker arms, and a main and articulated secondary connecting rod. The crankshaft is split and runs in two roller bearings and one axial ball bearing. The Pollux II R version is equipped with a 3: 2 epicyclic gear.
use
A Walter Pollux engine was used in the Fieseler F 2 Tiger flown by Gerhard Fieseler . With this machine he won the Coupe Mondiale d'Acrobatie Aerienne in Vincennes in June 1934 , which is regarded as the first world aerobatic championship. Other types in which the propulsion system was used were the B-122 sport aircraft , the Aero A-204 passenger aircraft and the prototype of the A-304 bomber .
