John Kim Son-Tae

John Kim Son-Tae (born September 15, 1961 in Yeosan-myeon, Iksan , South Korea ) is a South Korean clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Jeonju .

Life

John Kim Son Tae studied at the seminary in Gwangju philosophy and Catholic theology and received on 20 January 1989, the sacrament of the priesthood for the Diocese of Jeonju .

After pastoral work as a chaplain in his home diocese, he went to study fundamental theology at the University of Friborg in Switzerland in 1992 . Here he first obtained his licentiate and was awarded a Dr. theol. PhD . From 1997 to 2003 and again from 2006 to 2009 he was director of the Diocesan Catechetical Institute in Jeongju. He was also active as a pastor in pastoral care, most recently as pastor of the Samcheong-dong parish in Jeongju.

On March 14, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Jeonju. The episcopal ordination received his his predecessor Vincent Ri Pyung-ho on May 13 of that year. Co- consecrator was the Archbishop of Seoul , Andrew Cardinal Yeom Soo-jung .
