The Diocese of Jeonju ( lat. : Dioecesis Ieoniuensis , kor. : 천주교 전주 교구 ) is in South Korea location Roman Catholic diocese based in Jeonju .
history
The Diocese of Jeonju was on April 13, 1937 by Pope Pius XI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Quidquid ad Christi from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Taiku as Apostolic Prefecture Zenshu . The Apostolic Prefecture Zenshu was on July 12, 1950 Apostolic Prefecture Chonju renamed. On January 21, 1957, the Apostolic Prefecture Chonju was by Pope Pius XII. With the Apostolic Constitution In apostolica praefectura raised to the Apostolic Vicariate .
On March 10, 1962, the Apostolic Vicariate Chonju by Pope John XXIII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Fertile Evangelii and renamed the Diocese of Jeonju . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Gwangju as a suffragan .
