Peter Han Kong-ryel
Peter Han Kong-ryel (Korean: 한공 렬 베드로; * February 3, 1913 in Inchen ; † March 7, 1973 ) was a Korean Roman Catholic Archbishop and Apostolic Vicar .
Life
Han was ordained a priest on June 24, 1939. John XXIII appointed him on January 3, 1961 Vicar Apostolic of Chonju and Titular Bishop of Sagalassus . On March 12, 1961, Krikor consecrated Bedros XV. Agagianian , Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , made him bishop with the assistance of Pietro Sigismondi , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, and Leone Giovanni Battista Nigris , former nuncio of Albania. On March 10, 1962, Pope John XXIII. the Apostolic Vicariate to the Diocese of Jeonju . He thus became its first bishop. He attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council . On June 28, 1971, Pope Paul VI appointed him archbishop of Gwangju .
His motto was In Verbo tuo Laxabo rete.
