The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Daegu ( lat. : Archidioecesis Taeguensis , kor. : 천주교 대구 대교구 ) is in South Korea location Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in Daegu .

history

The Archdiocese of Daegu was established on April 8, 1911 by Pope Pius X from cession of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Korea as Apostolic Vicariate Taiku . On April 13, 1937 there was area for the Apostolic Prefecture of Kwoszu and Jeonju and on January 21, 1957 for the Apostolic Vicariate of Pusan . The Apostolic Vicariate Taiku was on March 10, 1962 by Pope John XXIII. raised to the archbishopric and renamed the Archdiocese of Daegu . On May 29, 1969, the Archdiocese of Daegu gave up parts of its territory to establish the Andong Diocese .
