The Diocese of Cheongju ( lat. : Dioecesis Cheongiuensis , kor. : 천주교 청주 교구 ) is in South Korea location Roman Catholic diocese , based in Cheongju .

history

The Diocese of Cheongju was on June 23, 1958 by Pope Pius XII. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Sacro suadente from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Seoul as Apostolic Vicariate Cheongju . On March 10, 1962, the Apostolic Vicariate Cheongju was by Pope John XXIII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Fertile Evangelii and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Daegu as a suffragan .
