Walter Reschny
Walter Reschny (born May 21, 1931 in Bautsch ; † July 1, 2011 in Gladenbach ) was a German entrepreneur .
Life
Walter Reschny was born in 1931 in the Sudetenland and in 1946 came with his family as a displaced person in the central Hessian town of Sinkershausen . He completed an apprenticeship as a tailor in his father's company . In 1953 he came to prominence as a merchant independent and opened its first store, he sold the large mail-order companies bought up remaining stock in Marburg. In the following years he expanded his company to up to 30 branches in Hessen; In 2011 there were 17 so-called tV markets . His company's headquarters were always in the city of Gladenbach, with which he felt very connected. From 1973 to 1976 he gave the city an important urban development impulse by building the Reschny House with around 50 apartments and offices as well as 16 specialist shops and 1500 parking spaces on the market square . In his private life, he was committed to the city of Gladenbach as well as to children and young people, for whom he set up the Reschny Foundation in 2002 . In 2001 he was made the first honorary citizen of Gladenbach. In 2009 he was awarded the Medal of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his social commitment and his diverse voluntary and local political commitment .
