Walter Schaefer (lawyer)

Walter Schaefer (born July 23, 1909 in Altona ; † November 5, 1980 in Einbeck ) was a German administrative lawyer.

Life

Schaefer was the son of Colonel a. D. Friedrich-Wilhelm Schaefer . From 1927 he studied law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . During his studies there he became a member of the Corps Hannovera Göttingen . After the assessor exam in Berlin in 1934, he first became a consultant at the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and the Berlin-Brandenburg Chamber of Commerce . Even before the start of the Second World War, he was drafted into the Wehrmacht in August 1939 and initially served as a lieutenant. Res. In the French campaign and then in the 6th Army until their surrender at Stalingrad. He was captured by the Soviets until 1946 and then returned to Germany, where he was head of department in the British Zone in the two-zone economic office in Minden . In 1948 he became chief district director in the Einbeck district and remained in this position until his retirement in 1972.
