Walter Schoof

Walter Schoof (born January 1, 1945 ) is a former Mecklenburg soccer player. For FC Hansa Rostock , he played a few games in the top division of the GDR, the Oberliga , between 1967 and 1969 .

Schoof played for the company sports community (BSG) Lok / Aufbau Bad Doberan until 1965 . In 1963 he was part of their team that won promotion to the third-class Rostock district league . At the beginning of the 1965/66 season, Schoof was delegated to the Rostock district's football center , the SC Empor Rostock . During the season, its football section was spun off as FC Hansa Rostock. There he first played with the 2nd team in the district league and was involved in winning the district championship in 1967 and the subsequent promotion to the GDR league . In the same month Schoof also came to his first appearance in the league team. On May 13, 1967 he was called up in the encounter of the last Bundesliga match Hansa Rostock - Motor Zwickau (1: 1) as a center forward and scored in the 14th minute with the Rostock opening goal, the only first division of his career. In the 1967/68 season he was nominated for the GDR league collective of the 2nd team, but was only used there in seven point games and did not play in the major league again. In the following season 1968/69 he developed into the regular player of the 2nd team, for which he now played 20 of 30 point games and scored four goals. He also played two more games in the league and was called up in two games in the Intertoto Cup . He was a striker in all games. Also for the season 1968/69 the FC Hansa Schoof reported again for the 2nd team. Also this time he played 20 point games for her and came again to four goals. At the end of the season, Schoof left FC Hansa without being used again in the major league. This left four league games with one goal, 47 GDR league games with eight goals and the two intertoto games.

In the 1969/70 and 1970/71 seasons Schoof played for the GDR league club Post Neubrandenburg , but was only used there until September 1970. 1971/72 he was active for Motor Schwerin in the district league and rose with the team in the GDR league. He then joined the league competitor Schiffahrt / Hafen Rostock . There he played seven seasons until 1979 and was used in 93 games in the 154 point games played, until the end as a striker. After he had played all 22 point games as a 34-year-old left winger in the 1978/79 season, he ended his career as a football player in the performance area.

He remained a member of the BSG Schiffahrt / Hafen and the successor club SV Hafen Rostock . Before he retired in 2010, he had coached the second women's team and the club's U-50 team. The club's board of directors elected him as head of the football division and treasurer.
