Walter Schumacher (botanist)

Walter Schumacher (born July 3, 1901 in Pforzheim ; † February 7, 1976 in Bonn ) was a German botanist and university professor .

Live and act

In 1938 Schumacher was appointed to the Botanical Institute of the University of Bonn and in 1947 as director of the Botanical Institute and the Botanical Garden . He contributed to the restoration of the university's botanical garden, which was destroyed in World War II. In 1969 he retired.

Schumacher worked for many years on the standard work for university students of botany , the university textbook " Strasburger ". In the 22. – 28. Edition (1944–1962) he was responsible for the “Physiology” section.
