Walter Simon (born July 12, 1989 in Dresden ) is a German basketball player. He plays for TSV Ansbach .

career

Simon started playing basketball in his hometown at the USV TU Dresden before he went to Berlin as a teenager due to the better sporting prospects to continue his development at the school and competitive sports center there. He played in the youth department of Alba Berlin , whose then cooperation club TuS Lichterfelde, and was used for the second men's team in the first regional league.

In 2009 Simon went to the United States and played at Cumberland University in the state of Tennessee until 2011 . During this time he was used in a total of 59 NAIA games and averaged 11.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

From 2011 to 2013 Simon was under contract with the Uni-Giants Leipzig for one season each in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB and 2nd Bundesliga ProA . In 2013 he switched to the basketball league for Mitteldeutscher BC . He played 17 Bundesliga games (points average: 1.2) for MBC and was  loaned to the second division for BV Chemnitz 99 for the 2014/15 season.

In 2015 he signed a contract with the Dresden Titans and reached the ProB semi-finals with the team. Due to the waiver of other contenders, Dresden rose to the ProA, where Simon became team captain. However, in the first year after being promoted to ProA, Simon did not stay in the class, and Simon went straight back to ProB with Dresden.

After leaving Dresden following the 2016/17 season, Simon went to Middle Franconia for professional reasons and from then on played at TSV Ansbach in the first regional league.
