Walter Voss (politician, 1907)

Walter Voss (born July 31, 1907 in Berlin ; † March 21, 1983 in East Berlin ) was a German politician (KPD, SED).

Life

Walter Voss attended elementary school in Berlin. He then completed a four-year apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer. In the following years he worked as a locksmith in various Berlin metalworking companies. Since 1924 he was a member of the German Metal Workers' Association . In 1925 he moved to the KJBD. Voss married in the late 1920s.

In 1927 Voss joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). In July 1932 he was elected to the Reichstag as his party's candidate for constituency 3 (Potsdam II) , to which he was a member until November 1932.

After the " seizure of power " in 1933, Voss was persecuted as a well-known communist. After the Second World War he joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) and was elected to the city council in the first Berlin election in 1946 .
