Walter Weinberger

Walter Weinberger (born September 16, 1942 in Iggensbach ) is a German diplomat and since 2003 Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Recife ( Brazil ). The Consulate General is the official representation of the Federal Republic of Germany in the states of Alagoas , Bahia , Ceará , Maranhão , Paraíba , Pernambuco , Piauí , Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe .

After graduating from high school and working for six years as a temporary soldier, he joined the senior civil service of the Foreign Office in 1967 . During this time he worked abroad at the embassies of the Federal Republic of Germany in Guatemala, the USA, Benin and Malta.

After joining the higher foreign service in 1980, he was employed at the embassy in Portugal , the consulate general in Miami, from 1997 to 2000 as an ambassador in Qatar and in the meantime at the Foreign Office in Bonn and Berlin.
