Walter Winchell
Walter Winchell (born April 7, 1897 in New York City , † February 20, 1972 in Los Angeles ) was an American journalist .
Life
Winchell grew up in a Jewish family in New York City. After leaving school he worked as a reporter for the newspaper Vaudeville News in 1920; then he worked as a reporter for Evening Graphics from 1924 and then moved to the New York Daily Mirror in June 1929 . He also worked from 1930 for the radio station WABC in New York City. After the Second World War he worked as a television journalist for the US television stations NBC and ABC . Winchell was married to Rita Greene from 1919 to 1928.
