Walther von Hahn

Walther von Hahn (born April 26, 1942 in Marburg ) is a German German philologist and computer scientist

Life

He studied German, philosophy , Latin and Protestant theology in Marburg. After receiving his doctorate in 1969 at the University of Marburg ( Ludwig Erich Schmitt ), he taught from 1978 to 2007 as a professor at the Institute for German Studies I and from 1987 as Professor C4 for Practical Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Hamburg with teaching and examination authorization in both departments. Until his retirement he was head of the “Natural Language Systems” division. In 2002 he became an honorary professor at the University of Alexandru Ioan Cuza Iași and in 2012 he became professor hc at the University of Bucharest .

His main research interests are German linguistics with a focus on language theory, technical language, pragmatics, computational linguistics, computational philology and machine translation.
