Waltz For Debbie was a Swedish indie pop duo from Lund .

history

Waltz For Debbie was founded in 1996 by Annica Lundbäck and Martin Permer. The two met in Lund at the university , where they were studying at the time. They developed a sound based on the electro-pop of Dubstar and Saint Etienne , with Martin Permer composing the songs and Annica Lundbäck interpreting them vocally. In 1997 they recorded their first demo and released their first single You & I & Brett & Alice on Stockholm Records , but it did not sell well. In 1999 Labrador Records became aware of the two and marketed the subsequent single He Loves Anna . In January 2000 the single Once Upon a Time followed , which became a big radio hit in Sweden. Both singles also appeared on their debut album Gone and Out , which came out in Sweden in June 2000 and was also available in Spain, Japan and the USA in 2001. Martin Permer later moved to Malmö and Annica Lundbäck moved to Stockholm, where she worked as a journalist. This made the further cooperation difficult, so that there have been no further publications or appearances of the two.
