Bianchetta Genovese

The white wine variety Bianchetta Genovese is cultivated in the Italian region of Liguria . The variety is approved in the metropolitan city of Genoa . It is mostly used as a blend with wines from the Albarola , Rollo , Bosco and Vermentino grape varieties , but can also be marketed locally as a table grape . At the beginning of the 1990s, the area under vines was 339 hectares .

It finds its way into the DOC wine Golfo del Tigullio-Portofino in almost pure form .

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. It is very hairy with white wool. The light green young leaves are lightly hairy on the underside.
  • The medium-sized leaves are usually five-lobed and only slightly curved (see also the article leaf shape ). The stalk bay is slightly lyren-shaped open. The blade is bluntly serrated. The teeth are medium-sized compared to the grape varieties.
  • The conical to cylindrical grape is medium-sized and has dense berries. The slightly elliptical berries are thick-skinned, medium-sized and golden-yellow in color.

Bianchetta Genovese ripens approx. 25 days after the Gutedel and is one of the late-ripening grape varieties of the early third ripening period (see the chapter in the article grape variety). Bianchetta Genovese is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ).

Bianchetta Genovese is also known by the synonyms Bianchetta, Bianchetta bianca, Bianchetta del Genovesato, Bianchetto, Gianchetta, Gianchetto, Giunchetta and Giunchetto.
