The Walvis Bay wetland ( English Walvis Bay Ramsar Site or Walvis Bay Wetlands ), also Walvis Bay Lagoon (English Walvis Bay Lagoon ), is a wetland with a lagoon . It is located in Walvis Bay on Namibia's central Atlantic coast .
nature and environment
The area, which is under special protection under the Ramsar Convention , has an area of 12,600 hectares and is home to hundreds of thousands of birds of at least 40 species. There are also various dolphins , whales and rare fish such as the sunfish . According to the census in February 2017, the following bird species occur in the named numbers. A total of almost 119,000 birds were counted.
