Wall frame bridge

Wall frame bridge

The Wandrahmsteg is a pedestrian bridge that connects Hamburg 's Hafencity and Old Town districts. The girder bridge built in 1962 is a listed building .

The Wandrahmsteg connects Willy-Brandt-Straße (formerly Ost-West-Straße ) with Wandrahm , an island in HafenCity . The wall frame footbridge is registered by the authority for culture and media with the number 12475 as an architectural monument in the Hamburg monument list.

The name of the bridge is derived from the name of the island and is also reminiscent of the large wall frame bridge that was demolished in 1962 . The steel construction and - in contrast to the surrounding structures - the modern appearance of the wall frame walkway raised fears that the Speicherstadt's classification as a World Heritage Site could be endangered.
