life and career

In 1945 his parents moved with him to Chenjiagou in Henan Province, which is now known as the birthplace of Taijiquan . Wang Xian began his Taijiquan training in 1958 under Chen Zhaopi, 18th generation Chen style. From Chen Zhaopi he learned all his knowledge, which is Lao Jia Yi Lu (old frame, first form) and Er Lu (second form), Wubu Tuishou (five-step push hands), Taijijian (Taiji sword), Taijidao (Taiji saber ), Taijiqiang (taiji spear), taijigun (taiji stick) and much more. After Chen Zhaopi's death in 1972, he continued his studies with Chen Zhaokui , also an 18th generation Chen style. From him he learned the new frame of the Chen style after Chen Fake until his death in 1981 . In 1982 he won the 1st Chinese Tuishou Championship. He was able to repeat this success in 1985. Today, Wang Xian, along with Chen Xiaowang , Zhu Tiancai and Chen Zhenglei, is regarded as one of the outstanding representatives of the Chen style Taijiquan. These four masters bear the honorary title "Si Da Jin Gang", the "four guardians of Buddha".

Wang Xian now teaches all over China and also teaches his art in Japan, the USA, South Korea, France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Switzerland. In 2002 he opened the Chenjiagou Wushuyuan School in Chenjiagou, a school for Chinese and foreign Taiji students, which is now run by his second son Wang Zhanjun. In addition to the classic Chen style Taijiquan, Wang Xian also teaches his own form, which he has further developed based on the Chen style, including the application-oriented Taiji Sanshou.
