Wangen is a district of the municipality of Illerrieden in the Alb-Danube district in Baden-Württemberg . The village is about two kilometers south of Illerrieden.
history
Wangen is first mentioned in a document in 1239. The place belonged to the county of Kirchberg . Several fiefs came in 1352 to the von Klingenstein, 1357 to the Roth, 1440 to the Low and in the 17th century to the Fugger counts . Kirchberg fiefdoms of Herbishofen and Gossolt also came to Roth and Low, respectively.
In 1805 Wangen came to Bavaria and in 1810 through the border treaty between Bavaria and Württemberg to the Kingdom of Württemberg , where the place was subordinated to the Oberamt Wiblingen .
Wangen initially belonged to Illerrieden and only became an independent municipality in 1828.
The community of Illerrieden was formed on March 1, 1972 by the union of the communities of Illerrieden and Wangen.
