Wankor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Vankor oil and gas field ( Russian Ванкорское нефтегазовое месторождение ) was discovered in 1988 in the Turukhansk district of the Krasnoyarsk region in Siberia ( Russia ). The reserves are estimated at around 520 million tons of crude oil and around 95 billion cubic meters of gas. On August 21, 2009 the field was officially put into operation. Today, Wankor is majority owned by the Russian state oil company Rosneft , which invested the equivalent of 6.5 billion US dollars in the development of the deposit from 2005 to 2009 .

geography

Wankor is located in the northern part of the West Siberian lowlands around 130 km west-northwest of the town of Igarka on the Yenisei . The left-hand Yenisei tributary of the Great Cheta with the mouth of the Lodochnaja flows past it . The tundra dominates .

history

Wankor was discovered in 1988 by the Russian oil company OAO Jenisseineftegas . In the course of the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Yeniseift joint venture , which was majority owned by the Anglo Siberian Oil Company , was granted a license to explore and develop the deposit .

In April 2003, Rosneft Oil Company acquired the majority of the Anglo Siberian Oil Company in the course of a public offer on the London Stock Exchange and was also able to take over the licenses held by Yenisseineft. In 2004 Rosneft began the first test drilling to explore the deposit .

In August 2009, Vladimir Putin officially inaugurated the conveyor systems . On December 28, 2009, the first freighter carrying oil from Vankor left the port of Kosmino at the end of the East Siberia-Pacific pipeline .

On November 9, 2014, Wankorneft sold 10% of its shares to the China National Petroleum Corporation .

In August 2014, the field's daily production reached 442,000 barrels.

At the end of April 2015, the operator announced that 100 million tons of crude oil had already been produced since production began in August 2009. The daily production is currently a little over 60,000 tons, which corresponds to the production volume in August 2014. Production in the field itself has stagnated since then, which is why, in addition to further exploration, the production rights for three smaller, nearby oil fields have been transferred to Wankorneft .

The Susunskoje, Tagulskoje and Lodotschnoje oil fields are now regarded as part of the “Vankor Cluster”. The reserves of the Tagulskojefeld increased by 16.8 million tons of crude oil and 14 billion cubic meters of natural gas due to ongoing exploration.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure in the Wankor field and the deposits included in the field were expanded even after the start of production in 2009. It is being produced from 395 wells at 41 locations. There is an interim storage facility with a capacity of 25 million tons.

In the "UPSV-South" facility, the oil is cleaned from the water, the annual capacity is 15 million tons. An identical, English UPSV-North said device is still under construction. A pipeline network over 400 kilometers long was built within the field, along with around 120 kilometers of roads and over 1,400 kilometers of power lines. The oil is fed into the Russian pipeline network via a 556-kilometer pipeline.
