Ward Preston

Ward Preston (* before 1966; † 2016 ) was a production designer and art director .

Life

Preston began his career on the film staff in 1966 as assistant to the art director on the set of Highest Deployment in Laredo , but remained uncredited in the credits. Also in his other films such as Wait until it's dark and Hello, Dolly! he remained without credit . From the beginning of the 1970s he was active as an art director himself, although he was again without a name on his debut, the Western Monte Walsh .

1974 he was responsible for the disaster movie The Towering Inferno along with William J. Creber and Raphael Bretton for the Oscar in the category Best Art Direction nominated, but the award went this year to Francis Ford Coppola Mafia film The Godfather - Part II .

As a production designer, Preston worked on the comedy film The Incredible Journey in a Crazy Airplane and the musical film Purple Rain . He also worked for television, including the television series Unknown Dimensions and Beauty and the Beast, as well as some television films.
