Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden
The Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden , formerly Leavesden Film Studios called, are a film and media complex in England , which about 32 kilometers northwest from the center of London near the city of Watford is. The film studio was taken over by Warner Bros. in 2010 .
history
Initially only partially used as a film studio, the former Rolls-Royce factory was fully established as a film studio in the mid-1990s thanks to the complex set construction for the film Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace . The modeling area that was set up especially for this film has now developed into a separate department, and better and better capacity utilization has helped the studio to grow steadily.
The facility is now one of the few in Great Britain where large-scale productions can be implemented. The studios encompass a 46,500 m² area with stage structures, production offices, storage buildings and an additional 323,730 m² area for fixed outdoor sets, with the latter allowing a 360 ° view if required. Leavesden Film Studios is connected to the Sohonet media network .
Harry Potter Museum
All the scenery that had to be built for the Harry Potter films was built in Leavesden Film Studios. For example, the Gryffindor common room, the great hall and the Ministry of Magic in the studios were created.
After shooting the last Harry Potter film in 2010 and the takeover of Warner Bros., the part of the studio that houses the sets of the Harry Potter film series was rebuilt for around 100 million pounds and finally opened to the public. After the renovation, around 5000 visitors a day can view the sets known from the Harry Potter films. In this converted area of the studio, some of the already demolished locations have been rebuilt. This museum opened on March 31, 2012 under the name Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter . The film sets on display include the sets from Gringotts, the Great Hall, Platform 9 3/4, the Forbidden Forest as well as parts of the Fox Den, Dumbledore's office, the Potions classroom and Diagon Alley. A special highlight is the approx. 15 m tall Hogwarts model.
