what is that supposed to mean
What is that supposed to mean is a traditional Christmas carol that was believed to have been part of a folk shepherd's game. Early printed leaflets of the text are mainly from Austria in the dialect version and go back to the year 1656 (with Daniel Paur, Innsbruck). The high German text version and melody that are widespread today are handed down in the work Schlesische Volkslieder by Hoffmann von Fallersleben and Ernst Richter (Leipzig 1842) with the indication of origin “from the Opole area and from the Grafsch [aft] Glatz ”. "His dancing step-beat suggests round games in front of or in a church."

1. What does that mean? It's already day.
I know it doesn't go around until midnight.
Just look, just look,
how the little stars shine the longer, the more.
2. Drive together, drive the sheep together for bass.
Drive together, drive together, I'll show you something there.
There in the stable, there in the stable
you'll see miracles, float together once.
3. I only looked a little from a distance, and
my heart was jumping with joy:
A beautiful child, a beautiful child
is lying there in the manger with donkey and cattle.
4. A hearty father who is also there,
a beautiful virgin kneels on the hay, too, it
sings around and around, it sounds around and around,
you can't see a light, it burns around and around.
5. The child who trembles from cold and frost.
I thought to myself: who then has disregarded the fact
that one
does not offer any other hostel to him today either?
6. So go and take a lamb from the grass
and bring something to the beautiful little Christ child.
Go gently, just go gently, so
that you don't make the child restless!
